Don't miss the opportunity to experience the rewards of completing a marathon, half marathon, triathlon or century ride while helping to accelerate cures for leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma - blood cancers that continue to take the lives of thousands of Americans every year. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Aliza Harinstein is a one year old who was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of infant leukemia in August.  She is currently undergoing 2 years of chemotherapy, with the first 4-6 months entirely as an inpatient, under the careful eye of NYU's infant leukemia experts.

Aliza is a Hebrew name that means "joyful."  Thus far, to the amazement of friends, family and physicians, Liza has continued to live up to her name.  She greets all her visitors with smiles and hand waves, and is often actively throwing toys out of her crib, or "dancing" around to music, even after intense chemo sessions.  She is a fighter.  And she will be a winner.

To all of the athletes raising funds on behalf of Aliza, my husband and I bow with gratitude.  Having finished numerous marathons and an Ironman triathlon, I know how difficult the training is and how much dedication it takes just to get to the starting line.  It requires a deep desire, focus, and sacrifice.  But the feeling that you have when you cross the finish line is a sense of accomplishment that makes it all worthwhile (and addictive!).  Enjoy every minute of the journey.
