Cooking Fast for Fitness

Everyone wants to eat healthy, but who has the time?

And if you buy into that common lament, you can understand why too many people choose to pick up carryout food rather than cook meals for themselves. But as Ellen Hass points out in Fast & Fit, you don’t need to spend hours cooking to ensure a healthy meal.

Hass founded and is now president of FoodFit.com, a website filled with resources for healthy eating, including planning tools, nutritional information and recipes. In Fast & Fit, she features more than 150 recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less from some of the top chefs in the country.

You’ll notice most of the recipes are simple to make and feature a small ingredient list—many of which you probably already have in the kitchen. With just a little bit of thought beforehand, you can be making dinners like lemon-pepper fettuccine with asparagus and shrimp or grilled chipotle pork tenderloin. You can also spice up your everyday salads with some great vinaigrette recipes.

Forget the carryout and spend a few minutes for great tasting, healthy meals. $16.95, Hatherleighpress.com
