New Local Half Iron
If there’s one thing New
York City-area athletes need it’s more races close to home.
The logistics involved in booking hotels and getting cars to drive three or more hours for a race is costly and challenging. Lucky for us the new Westchester Toughman half iron triathlon is set to run its inaugural race this year on Sept. 21 in Croton Point Park, N.Y.—a mere hour from the city.
The race course features a one loop
swim in a protected cove of the Hudson river, a bike through upper Westchester,
and a rolling run around Croton Point Park over the Croton Dam. It’s not too late to register (but the
field is limited to 500) if a half distance is on your goal list for this
season. Westchestertoughman.com
