Half-marathon spectators experience New York

o   Mile 3:

Central Park West Drive
and
86th Street

The ambitious spectator could manage to watch the start, then book it across the lower section of the bridle path along 86th Street to catch runners as they come up the west side at mile 3. The best bet from there is to hop on the subway and head down to the finish; it’s just too hard to try and see much else (unless you’re traveling by foot, and running!).

o   Mile 8: Times Square

When else do you get to hang out in Times Square without a bunch of tourists on the streets? It’s one of the few times you’ll ever see thousands of runners streaming through a New York City landmark, and what a sight it is! This is a good central location to watch the race, and if you move very quickly. You might still have time to meet runners at the finish. Don’t forget to join in the Times Square Sing-A-Long at

44th Street
while you are there.

o   Mile 9: Toyota Highlander Turn to the Finish at the corner of West Side Highway and

42nd Street

Because this zone is strategically placed right at the turn, it’s one of the best spots to see the professional runners make a move. It also provides a long view across

42nd Street
, so you can see runners both approaching and making the turn. Spectators in this area will receive cheer sticks, all the better to make a little noise!

o   Mile 11: NIKE Runner Station at West Side Highway at

Harrison Street

With DJ entertainment and fresh waffles, the NIKE Runner Station is one of the best places to kick back and enjoy the race. Runners still have a few miles to go, and at this point, they’ll need the support.

o   The Finish

Spectators won’t have a clear view of the finish, as that area is limited to runners and staff. However, fans can position themselves near the pedestrian overpass at

Rector Street
to catch most runners just before they cross the finish line.
